They are responsible for creating this environment, and trying to deflect by attacking the prayers of Christians isn’t going to relieve them of that.

Bessent’s point is valid: where are Cook’s denials that she is entirely innocent of the allegations?

WHAT’S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill…
I’m not going to lie: I’m getting anxious for the critters to return to the Hill. I realize it’s a double-edged sword, but I rather miss them and their antics — and the interesting choice of hearing titles. (I should probably have my head examined.)
While we await their return, we do have congressional Dems out there still making fools of themselves. See, e.g.:

Meanwhile, Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) is out there doing yeoman’s work to expose the graft and grift undergirding the Dems and their schemes.
White House What’s Up

Vice President JD Vance is visiting a steel fabrication facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Thursday, where he’ll “deliver remarks highlighting President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and the historic tax cuts it delivered for working families and businesses.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a press briefing at 1:00 PM Eastern.
Full Court Press…
The Trump administration is headed back to the Supreme Court on the USAID funding cases, filing an application for stay late Tuesday while the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals continues to mull a rehearing en banc in the matter. (The administration scored a significant victory in the D.C. Circuit two weeks ago when a panel vacated the lower court injunctions.)

Meanwhile, indicting a ham sandwich has proved easier than indicting the guy who hurls one at law enforcement officers in D.C.
And the Fulton County, Georgia (remember them?) Election Board finds itself in hot water over its refusal to comply with an order to appoint the local Republican Party’s two nominees for the board.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
I suspect we’ll see a ruling from SCOTUS on the above-mentioned application for stay, either today or tomorrow.
MORNING MUSING
Like many, I was heartsick to learn of the horrific shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning that left two children dead and more than a dozen others injured, some seriously. Any such incident is tragic, but when it involves children, it seems all the more so.
And the idea that bullets rained down on them as they sat in church, attending a children’s Mass, is outright evil.
Sanctuary. (I realize it’s perhaps considered the nave in Catholic churches, but I grew up Protestant, and I think of the seating area with the pews as part of the sanctuary.) It’s supposed to be a refuge — the place where you’re safe. The place where those babies yesterday were most vulnerable. The place where Annunciation Church’s parishioners will forever be reminded of unspeakable tragedy. Yes, that’s evil. But I’m a firm believer in a loving God. May His light cover and comfort those families and help them find peace. And sanctuary.
