Scott Bessent Demolishes Janet Yellen With Competence and a Delicious Remark – RedState

It’s been a night and day change in the position of Treasury Secretary.

We went from Janet Yellen, who didn’t seem to understand inflation, calling it transitory, and who caused a stir by bowing deeply to a Chinese official, to a much better choice in Scott Bessent.

Janet Yellen Throws Biden Under the Bus With Astounding Comment Destroying His Claims About Inflation

It seems like Yellen is unhappy with Bessent because he’s undoing things that she did. That sounds good to me. Our sister site Townhall reported on her unhappy snit about him, referencing the Daily Caller:

Yellen, who served as treasury secretary from 2021 to 2025 under the Biden administration, told The Wire China that she does not currently talk to Bessent at all, claiming that he has “succeeded in undoing everything that was a priority of mine at [the] Treasury [Department].” She added that “this goes well beyond China.”

“It goes to reforms of the Internal Revenue Service, an international tax treaty with 137 countries that we negotiated, our attempts to evolve the agendas of the World Bank and IMF [International Monetary Fund] to address global public goods like preparing for pandemics and addressing climate change,” Yellen told the outlet. “All of that is completely dead. I don’t think he needs my advice on that.”

Could she make me like him more? She wants to talk about his response? Does she remember what she did in China, repeatedly bowing like they were her masters?

His response to her added to my appreciation of him. He just nuked her with a delicious remark:

“Sadly, these bitter comments come as no surprise,” Bessent told the Wire China. “Secretary Yellen’s greatest priority, when she actually visited the Treasury building, was leaving me and the American people with the largest deficit to GDP [gross domestic product] in American history when our country was not at war or in a recession.” [….]

“The Trump administration and I have engaged China in a respectful but fulsome manner, rather than being lectured and cowered,” Bessent added. “I couldn’t even tell you what Secretary Yellen’s China policy was, aside from consuming beer and mushrooms.”

Oh my, not only does he scold her for being lectured by China and “cowering,” but he even recalls that incident when she reportedly unknowingly ate “hallucinogenic” mushrooms in China in 2023. She also consumed beer on another trip to Beijing at a brewery. Unfortunately for us, she was unaware of how to be a good Treasury Secretary.

Bessent has been one of President Trump’s great Cabinet picks. We have inflation under control, a surplus from tariffs, and blue-collar wages rising, with the biggest increase in years. We finally have people who care about the economy and understand what they’re doing. Bessent doesn’t have a loud voice – he destroys critics with reality.
