WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — Today the Senate delivered a decisive victory to those who stand for the rights of states to regulate artificial intelligence. In an overnight session, the Senate voted a resounding 99 to 1 to reject an amendment to the “Big Beautiful Bill” that would have banned states from regulating AI for 10 years.
Reggie Littlejohn, president of Anti-Globalist International, co-founder of the Sovereignty Coalition, and president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, has been at the forefront of the movement to oppose this 10-year ban. She stated:
“I am delighted that powerful, bipartisan opposition has delivered a critical victory to states’ rights and a defeat to AI companies who seek to develop and deploy potentially dangerous technology without regulatory oversight or accountability. May this vote mark a major turning point for the future of AI in the United States. AI must be regulated and controlled, to ensure that it does not give rise to a biotech surveillance police state or ‘digital gulag,’ similar to the China Social Credit System. I understand the goal of competing effectively against China in the AI arms race. But at the same time, let us not defeat China by becoming China.
I would like to express my gratitude to all those whose help was essential in securing this victory. Our Sovereignty Coalition Campaign generated 36,402 emails and 829 phone calls to Congress on this issue. I believe that SovCo’s Campaign was instrumental in turning this issue around. The AI ban passed the House, but then after our Campaign, it was defeated in the Senate. I would also like to thank the 40 attorneys general and 17 governors who signed letters against the 10-year ban, as well as Joe Gebbia, head of State Shield, and all those who took action in our campaign to expunge this pernicious ban. Thank you all. This victory belongs to you.”
