Service station with an incredible 13 food outlets named ‘best’ in UK | UK | News

A common debate among drivers is which service station is the best, and with Christmas  approaching, many Brits will be hitting the road to celebrate with friends and family. Whether you’re driving on the motorway or winding through countryside, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommends taking a 15-minute break every two hours of driving.

Whether it’s a quick pit stop to recharge, to stretch your legs or refuel, it’s vital to take regular breaks to ensure journeys remain safe. With that in mind, having somewhere decent to spend your break is welcome.

Northgate Vehicle Hire has now done a study, looking into factors such as the number of electric charging points, parking prices and green spaces. The research found that Exeter  services on the M5 is the UK’s best service station.

Designed to cater to every type of traveller, from long-haul drivers to those looking for a refreshment on route, the service station is home to 56 electric vehicle charging points and 13 food and drink outlets, and parking is free for two hours.

Newport Pagnell Southbound, located on the M1 between junctions 14 and 15, ranks as the UK’s second-best service station. With plenty of green space to stretch your legs or your furry friends, the service station also boasts a variety of food and drink outlets to refuel.

Fleet Services ranks in third position. Located on the M3, Fleet is a popular choice for those heading to LEGOLAND Windsor. With 26 rapid charging points and 16 food and drink outlets, Fleet has partnered with the charity Electric Umbrella to include a bright yellow piano, giving visitors the chance to play and pause for a moment during their journey.

Wetherby Services and Cambridge Services also rank closely behind in fourth and fifth position – both high contenders in the race for the UK’s best service stations.

Spencer Davi, sales and marketing director at Northgate Vehicle Hire, said: “When you drive for a job, a pleasant service station to stop at can make a real difference.

“Our customers spend a lot of time on the road, so we understand the value of stopping somewhere clean, comfortable and well-equipped to take a proper break. The stations topping our list really do stand out for making life easier for people who drive for a living.”
