Sharon Osbourne became visibly emotional at the Grammy Awards. The widow of the late Ozzy Osbourne was clearly moved as Yungblud, a close family friend, honoured the Prince of Darkness, six months following his death.

Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, initially admired Black Sabbath’s frontman before developing a friendship with him. At the Grammys on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the vocalist, recognised for his candid manner, celebrated the rock icon whilst his 73 year old widow became tearful on stage beside him.

“To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity, not only as a musician, but also as a man, is something I’m really grateful for,” Yungblud said. The performer had just secured Best Rock Performance for Changes, his cover of Ozzy’s track which he recorded live at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, in July.

Yungblud added, “But to then get to know them and honour them at their final show and receive this [his award] is something I am struggling to comprehend, we f—–g love you Ozzy.”

An emotional Sharon watched as the 28 year old proclaimed, “The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, he asked me if there was anything he could do for me, and that the ‘music was enough.’ God less Ozzy Osbourne and god bless f—–g rock music!”

Yungblud and Ozzy had developed a close relationship after meeting in 2022, with the Black Sabbath legend subsequently becoming something of a mentor to him. Speaking to The Times after the rock icon’s death, Yungblud expressed his disbelief at the sudden loss, stating: “I told a friend that I thought Ozzy had another five albums in him. And then he did the show and then he died. It’s so overwhelming.”

The legendary performer died at 76 on July 22, surrounded by his wife Sharon and children. His tragic passing came just days after he delivered his last performance at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning gig at Villa Park, where Yungblud had also been set to appear.

His death certificate revealed that the Prince of Darkness suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (joint causes). His profession was listed as “rock legend, songwriter and performer.”

Emergency air ambulance teams battled for two hours trying to resuscitate Ozzy after being summoned to his home. Sharon wed Ozzy in 1982, and they had three children together: Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 39.

After the devastating loss, the former X Factor panellist has spoken openly about coping with her bereavement.

Just before the festive season, she spoke frankly during an interview on close mate Piers Morgan‘s Uncensored show, remembering Ozzy’s last days.

She disclosed: “The main doctor said to him that if he did the show, ‘that’s it, you’re not gonna get through it. … He didn’t want to die on stage, he didn’t.

“So he knew that if he went ahead with the show, it would probably kill him. I don’t know how you feel, given how painful it has been to lose him.”

Sharon then became visibly upset and brushed away her tears.

The Osbourne family matriarch also described the harrowing moment she found him lifeless, and her uncontrollable cries upon discovering he had passed.

According to The Sun, she revealed: “He had a heart attack. I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t – just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone. I knew instantly he’d gone. And they tried and tried, and then they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried, and it’s like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him.'”.

Sharon also disclosed that Ozzy would dedicate up to 90 minutes each day on the crosstrainer, despite his declining health. Reflecting on their final night together for the first time, she mentioned Ozzy’s troubled sleep.

“He said, ‘Kiss me’. And then he said, ‘Hug me tight’. I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter. And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away,” she admitted.
