A popular Korean skin care brand has issued an urgent safety alert after discovering dangerous bacteria in two sizes of its face moisturiser.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) announced that Erborian Centella Crème, available in both 50ml and 20ml tubes, has been recalled due to a “microbiological risk”.
These microorganisms present particular dangers for people with weakened immune systems.
The affected moisturisers have been removed from shops across the UK, including major retailer John Lewis.
Four specific batch codes have been identified in the recall. The 20ml tubes carry batch numbers KM06343 and KM07343, while the 50ml versions are marked with KM05363 and KM06363.
The OPSS has confirmed that the contaminated batches fail to comply with EU cosmetics regulations and UK enforcement standards.

Officials instructed: “Consumers are advised to cease use of the product immediately and contact ukcustomerservices@erborian.com for further information.”
As well as being recalled from customers, Erborian has withdrawn its Centella Crème (50ml and 20ml) from the market to ensure no further risk.
John Lewis has issued its own “important” safety notice to customers who purchased the affected products.
The retailer’s alert explained that Erborian initiated the recall “as a precautionary measure” due to the “absence of preservatives” in the formula.

John Lewis has issued a recall notice for the Centella Crème 50ml (KM06363 and KM05363), excluding any 20ml products.
The company apologised in its notice: “We’re very sorry that it has been necessary to recall this product, and for the inconvenience caused.”
The recall comes as Waitrose shoppers were informed that a popular pasta dish contains an undeclared allergen.
Those who have purchased Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta 375g and are allergic to mustard should not consume the food.
The supermarket noted that only products bearing the expiry date of August 27, 2025, are affected by this recall.
