Somali fraud Exhibit A

Yesteray the Washington Free Beacon published my column “Yes, Illhan Omar married her brother.” It is illustrated and packed with links to the work of others such as the historian Dominic Green — a member of the Royal Historical Society who has troubled himself with the relevant documents and found that they fit uncomfortably with Omar’s story as she has deigned to formulate it. He reviewed Omar’s memoir for the American edition of The Spectator in “Can we believe Ilhan Omar’s autobiography?” Answer: no.

I especially recommend Ben Weingarten’s aptly titled American Ingrate: Ilhan Omar and the Progressive-Islamist Takeover of the Democratic Party (Bombardier Books, 2020). Ben summarizes the evidence in the heavily footnoted chapter 11.

President Trump is interested in her case. He is making an issue of it and her. Although it is an old story, I thought it was time to restate the facts as we know them now that we have his attention to this matter!

Consider this. Omar and Elmi’s 2009 marriage license was signed by Christian pastor Wilecia Harris. That remains an unmentionable detail in the sequence of events constructed by Omar, in which every twist and turn is accounted for by her Islamic “faith tradition.” The documents and other evidence show up Omar’s marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi as a hoax for some fraudulent purpose. Neither Omar’s “cultural” husband nor Omar herself ever treated it as anything but a nullity among themselves, anyway.

Like the neighbor in “Mending Wall,” I like having thought of it so well, I say again: Fact-checkers of the world, check off!
