Speaking of fraud | Power Line

Minnesota has been drowning in massive public-programs fraud since at least 2020. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has been conspicuous by his absence. In 2020, however, the Minnesota Department of Education began to figure out that something was funny was happening with the millions of meals being claimed by the large cast of Somali fraudsters sponsored by Feeding Our Future. Claiming racism, Feeding Our Future sued MDE for suspending the processing of new “site” applications in November 2020. The fraud could have been shut down in the course of that lawsuit. With Ellison as their lawyer, however, MDE caved. After MDE caved, another $100 million rolled out the door.

I asked for an interview and submitted written questions to Ellison about it all, but he has rested on his right to remain silent. He has ignored me. In my written questions I quoted him saying “I know a scam when I see one.” I asked when he first saw that Feeding Our Future and its sites were operating a scam.

Over the weekend the Star Tribune ran a long story patting itself on the back for its saturation coverage of Minnesota’s fraud crisis. Has the paper ever run a story on Ellison’s nonfeasance? Has the paper asked him for an interview on the subject or reported his response to a request for such an interview? If so, I have missed it.

Ellison has sought to keep his head down as the scandals have multiplied beyond the understanding of those of us who live here. However, on December 19 Ellison released the utterly brazen video below. Given his disappearance from the scene, it must have been produced inside a witness protection program conceailng his whereabouts. In the video Ellison raises the art of self-parody to a new level. Congratulations are in order.

Ellison must be supremely confident that he can play the hometown press for chumps. Beyond Minnesota, Fox News covers response to the video here. The New York Post covers the contributions to Ellison and other Minnesota Democrats by the Somali fraudsters here. The Post story quotes Bill Glahn: “Amazingly, Ellison has done nothing about the fraud, and he’s the top cop in the state.” Ellison has now topped himself. With the video he is committing political fraud.
