St. Edith Stein’s Aesthetic by Elizabeth A. Mitchell

A JEWISH convert, the philosopher Edith Stein became a Carmelite, Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. She died in Auschwitz and was declared a saint and martyr, recalled in her last days as a “living Pietà”. Her aesthetic vision, expressed in her writings and life, is explored by Elizabeth A. Mitchell in the fully footnoted St. Edith Stein’s Aesthetic: Beauty and sanctity: Masterpiece of the Divine Artist (Gracewing, £17.99 (£16.20); 978-0-85244-944-3).
