President Donald Trump is reportedly recalling nearly thirty diplomats from their ambassadorial positions and other senior embassy posts as part of a “realignment” to ensure Trump’s “America First” foreign policy continues.
In a statement to Fox News, a senior State Department official confirmed that a number of career diplomats were being recalled from nearly 30 countries to Washington to be offered other assignments within the State Department should they want them. An exact number of diplomats was not provided.
The Trump administration abruptly recalled nearly 30 career ambassadors at U.S. embassies around the world, in a move that senior officials said is aimed at better aligning the State Department with the president’s foreign-policy agenda https://t.co/xBTrhooFuE

Breaking: White House Pulls Elise Stefanik’s Nomination to Be UN Ambassador
“This is a standard process in any administration,” a senior State Department official told the outlet. “An ambassador is a personal representative of the President, and it is the President’s right to ensure that he has individuals in these countries who advance the America First agenda.”
“We encourage returning ambassadors to continue serving their country by finding new opportunities within the Department to advance President Trump’s America First agenda,” the statement added.
The outlet noted that this move comes in an effort to “prioritize continuity,” with the president, and not derail U.S. interests.
It read:
This means ambassadors will not be recalled from a country at war, or a country in the middle of high-stakes negotiations with the U.S.
The Associated Press noted that the State Department declined to provide the exact number of diplomats being recalled, who were given their initial posts under former President Joe Biden.
The AP’s report read:
The chiefs of mission in at least 29 countries were informed last week that their tenures would end in January, according to two State Department officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal personnel moves.
All of them had taken up their posts in the Biden administration but had survived an initial purge in the early months of Trump’s second term that targeted mainly political appointees. That changed on Wednesday when they began to receive notices from officials in Washington about their imminent departures.
The posts largely affected include Africa, with career diplomats from 13 countries, followed by Asia, with changes in six countries. There are four countries in Europe affected, followed by two in the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and two in the Western Hemisphere.
As my RedState colleague Jennifer Van Laar reported, Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently gave the best explanation for what Trump’s “America First” foreign policy entails.

“[W]e’ve all witnessed in our own respective spaces how in every interaction the president has with the world, the goal he has in mind is very simple: What you want us to do, is it going to make us stronger? Is it going to make us richer? Is it going to make us safer? If it is, he’s for it. If it’s not, he’s against it. If something’s going to make America weaker, or poorer, or less safe, the President’s going to be against it, and every single thing he has done in our foreign policy has been driven by the American people in mind.
Van Laar summed up the comments perfectly.
Peace, and looking out for the American people first and foremost. How refreshing.
Amen!
