In an administration full of stars, Deputy White House Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller is a superstar. Earlier today, he appeared with Karoline Leavitt in the White House briefing room to talk about illegal immigration. His riff is nuclear, and 100% true:
We now know, as Bill Glahn wrote earlier today, that “Maryland man” Kilmar Abrego Garcia was not just an MS-13 gang member and wife-beater, but a human trafficker. We know this because the body cam footage from when he was stopped in Tennessee has been made public.
I don’t know whether the visual proof that Abrego Garcia was a human trafficker, on top of everything else, will cause the Democrats to abandon his case. Probably not, because their mission, as they put it, is not Abrego Garcia himself but due process–due process meaning that our immigration laws can never, in any manner or under any circumstances, be enforced.
Still, if Ilhan Omar is a leading indicator, Democrats’ support for Abrego Garcia is likely to become more muted.
