Swedish police arrest gunman after triple shooting at hair salon

Swedish police have apprehended a suspect following a shooting in which three people were killed in the city of Uppsala on Tuesday.

Police swooped onto the scene after members of the public reported that they heard loud bangs that sounded like gunfire close to Vaksala Square in the centre of Uppsala, a university city 44 miles north of Stockholm.

The shooter fled the scene on an e-scooter and was on the run before being caught by officers.

A police helicopter was part of the search operation, police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin told TV4.

The identities of the victims and the shooter have yet to be released.

Photos of the scene showed police outside a barber shop called “Shalom” and a large area was cordoned off as the investigation was launched.
