Take a sad song | Power Line

Rep. Hank Johnson made himself famous quizzing Admiral Robert Willard about the possible danger of Guam tipping over and capsizing in the event of a planned military build-up on the island. Admiral Willard responded that he did not anticipate that eventuality. That was in 2010.

Johnson continues to represent Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District in the House of Representatives. We in Minnesota are in no position to cast stones. Ilhan Omar represents Minnesota’s Fourth Congressional District.

Yet Johnson descends to a kind of Democrat nadir here with his adaptation of “Hey Joe” into a protest song — “Hey Trump.” Like Johnson’s Guam cross-examination, his work here seems better calculated to arouse laughter than indignation. I’m filing this under Laughter Is the Best Medicine.

Johnson nevertheless has me thinking. Maybe “Hey Jude” would have been better suited to his purposes. It might also have given him a better chance to display his vocal prowess.
