Parents of premature babies can now get free nappies at Tesco pharmacies across Britain.
The supermarket has teamed up with Pampers to offer specially designed Preemie Protection nappies at more than 350 pharmacy locations throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.
With one in 13 babies born prematurely in the UK, the move should help countless families during what can be a particularly challenging time.
Families can simply visit their local Tesco pharmacy to pick up these essential items at no cost.
Premature babies have skin that is up to two times thinner than that of a full-term baby, making it highly sensitive to touch.
Tesco assured customers that the Preemie Protection nappies have been developed with neonatal nurses and parents to be “extra gentle” on fragile skin.
They were cleverly designed to work around medical tubes and wires, making nappy changing easier for parents and nurses.
What’s more, these nappies can protect against leaks for up to six hours to help keep babies’ skin protected, while enabling moments of touch and bonding that are “essential” for their development.

The nappies come in sizes for babies weighing under 1.1lb (500g) – three sizes smaller than standard newborn nappies.
The collaboration with Pampers builds on the supermarket’s ongoing commitment to supporting families and communities.
For Pampers, the partnership continues its mission to ensure all babies get the best possible start in life, regardless of how early they arrive.
Pampers Preemie Protection nappies are available at over 350 Tesco pharmacies across England, Scotland and Wales.

“That’s why we’re proud to be working with Pampers to make sure parents have access to nappies that are specially designed for their little ones who arrive early.
“We hope that this little help will make a big difference and relieve some of the stress for parents with new babies that may need extra support.”
Ian Morley, vice president at P&G Northern Europe (the company that markets Pampers) has first-hand experience of life in a neonatal unit after having two premature children.
Ian stated: “Nothing can prepare you for the shock and upheaval that comes when you have premature babies.
“I know that for many parents, the knowledge that we have a partnership with Tesco to provide these incredible small nappies for their babies will give one less thing to worry about at a challenging time.”
