DALLAS (LifeSiteNews) — A Texas physician has agreed to give up her medical license after state Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton sued her for continuing to chemically “transition” gender-confused minors in violation of state law.
Last October, Paxton’s office launched a lawsuit against Dr. May Chi Lau of Children’s Medical Center Dallas, who allegedly administered transgender hormones to 21 minors in violation of the state’s 2023 ban and covered them up by listing false diagnoses and billing codes.
“Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous, unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects,” Paxton said at the time. “Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition’ drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Now, KERA reports that Paxton’s office has announced that Lau has surrendered her medical license, which was officially canceled on October 9. Lau had previously agreed in January to stop practicing on patients and confine her medical work to academics, administration, and research. Paxton’s office is still seeking penalties.
For her part, Lau does not admit wrongdoing but has given up efforts to continue operating in Texas and is moving her practice to Oregon, where Democrat officeholders are dedicated to protecting so-called “gender-affirming care.”
A large body of evidence shows that “affirming” gender confusion carries serious harms, especially when done with impressionable children who lack the mental development, emotional maturity, and life experience to consider the long-term ramifications of the decisions being pushed on them, or full knowledge about the long-term effects of life-altering, physically transformative, and often irreversible surgical and chemical procedures.
Studies find that more than 80 percent of children suffering gender dysphoria outgrow it on their own by late adolescence and that “transition” procedures fail to resolve gender-confused individuals’ heightened tendency to engage in self-harm and suicide – and even exacerbate it, including by reinforcing their confusion and neglecting the actual root causes of their mental strife.
Many oft-ignored detransitioners attest to the physical and mental harm of reinforcing gender confusion as well as to the bias and negligence of the medical establishment on the subject, many of whom take an activist approach to their profession and begin cases with a predetermined conclusion in favor of “transitioning.”
“Gender-affirming” physicians have also been caught on video admitting to more old-fashioned motives for such procedures, as with an 2022 exposé about Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Clinic for Transgender Health, where Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor said outright that “these surgeries make a lot of money.”
