Among the many things the woke left has been notorious for doing over the last decade or so is either pushing for historical statues to be removed or taking it upon themselves to vandalize and/or destroy them in the name of “social justice.”
It first started with Confederacy-era monuments, but as predicted at the time by critics, the activist left did not stop there. Next, they moved on to statues of our Founding Fathers and other consequential American figures who helped lay the foundation for and shape the country we know and love today.
They also took aim at legendary explorer and discoverer Christopher Columbus, with some statues of Columbus either being beheaded or ripped down during the 2020 George Floyd riots. Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led agitators even went so far as to tear down the Columbus statue in Baltimore and dump it into the city’s Inner Harbor on Independence Day that same year.
Fortunately for us, President Trump has an affinity for Christopher Columbus, something we saw at various points in 2025, including in October, when he signed a proclamation calling for Oct. 13 to officially be observed as Columbus Day again, despite leftist attempts to get it renamed “Indigenous Peoples’ Day” nationally.
And on Wednesday, we learned that a Christopher Columbus statue will soon be installed on White House grounds:
President Donald Trump is planning to install a statue of Christopher Columbus on White House grounds, according to three people with knowledge of the pending move, in his latest effort to remake the presidential campus and celebrate the famed and controversial explorer.
The statue is set to be located on the south side of the grounds, by E Street and north of the Ellipse, two of the people said, although they cautioned that plans could change. The three people spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak on private discussions.
The especially cool part? The statue is a reconstructed version of the one the woketivist mobs dumped into that harbor:
The statue Mr. Trump selected is reportedly a reconstruction of one unveiled in Baltimore by President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s and dumped into the city’s harbor by protesters in 2020 as part of the protests for racial equality following George Floyd’s death.
A group of Italian American businessmen and politicians recovered the destroyed pieces from the harbor and rebuilt it with financial support from local charities and federal grants.
Bill Martin, one of those businessmen, organized the reclamation campaign. He told the Post that the piece will be transferred from a warehouse on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to the Trump administration over the next few weeks.
