The New Civility | Power Line

I was just talking about how media in Minnesota coddle local Democrats, to their detriment once they reach the national stage. Just twenty-one minutes later, the Minneapolis Star Tribune comes out with another article to prove my point.

It took four (count ’em, 4) Star Tribune reporters to create the story headlined,

Walz pivots from saying Democrats need to be ‘meaner’ to calling for civility after shooting.

Don’t worry, Tim! All is forgiven! An actual sentence from the article,

Walz never matched President Donald Trump’s willingness to mock and insult his political adversaries.

That Walz is not as skillful at it is obvious, but not for lack of willingness or effort. The article quotes Walz calling his opponents “dipshit,” “Gestapo,” “dictators,” “despots” and asking his supporters to “bully the shit” out of his Republican opponents. Curiously, the Star Tribune omits Walz’ use of the term “Nazi.” Perhaps they just ran out of room.

The Star Tribune attributes the new (however temporary) civility to Walz and to him alone. And when Walz reverts to form, he’ll be described as “feisty” or “combative” or the like.

We have always been at war with Eurasia.
