The murderer of two Brown University students is still at large this morning. Whoever he is, he injured nine more in his rampage. The New York Times live updates on the shootings reported a few minutes: “Officials indicated that they had not identified the attacker, who escaped the Ivy League school onto the streets of Providence, Rhode Island’s capital. They released a video that showed a person leaving the scene of the attack, though their face was not visible, and appealed for information.” Is it really ncessary to say “their face”? [UPDATE: Providence police have detained a “person of interest,” but they aren’t saying more than that.]
There is more clarity about the mass shooting at Bondi Beach. At least 12 innocent victims were murdered by two shooters at a Hanukkah celebration, with around a dozen wounded. The Star Tribune would describe the captured terrorist as “a Bonnyrigg man” — not sure how they whitewash these things in Australia. The other terrorist, so far unnamed, was killed at the scene.
It would have been worse if not for the unlikely hero who charged the “Bonnyrigg man” and turned his weapon on him. Let us understand heroism and let us now praise heroic men. The Daily Mail story has photographs and video. This video below is from The Sun
These terrorists had improvised explosive devices with them. They meant to maim as well as to murder or to amplify the mayhem they could do with their rifles. Eve Barlow calls it “Pogrom in Bondi Beach.”
