The ‘Warmth of Collectivism’ Gets Off to a Deadly Start in Mamdani’s NYC – RedState

Though there was much to take issue with in Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural address to New York City residents on January 1st, one line from it has come back to bite the Democrat Socialist, anti-American mayor and, unfortunately, some of the city’s residents.

“And if for too long these communities have existed as distinct from one another, we will draw this city closer together,” Mamdani stated on that bitterly cold day, where people were bundled up in their heavy coats, gloves, and scarves. “We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

As my RedState colleague Nick Arama correctly pointed out at the time, “That’s anti-the very principles of this country. We are based on individual rights, not group rights or collectivism.” Nick went on to write that “the whole point of our Constitution is to protect us from the excesses of governmental overreach. Rugged individualism made America.”

Kathy Hochul Makes Outrageous Statement About Federal Storm Help Amid Reports of NYers Freezing to Death

As we previously reported, the “warmth of collectivism” in the Big Apple has not gone well so far, with the recent winter storms leaving some New Yorkers stranded in their homes and unable to move their cars as city snow crews plow the dirty piles up high right next to them, with some of them at car height.

Further, the growing mountain of full trash bags on city streets has “stunk up the place,” as a native NYCer might say, leaving one of the world’s most iconic cities looking – and smelling – more than a little worse for wear barely a month into Mamdani’s reign.

Even worse has been the fact that Mamdani’s “hands-off” approach to handling the homeless crisis appears to have had deadly consequences for street dwellers:

Mamdani confirmed Monday that the total had risen to 16.

“As of this morning, 16 of our fellow New Yorkers have passed away outside during this brutal stretch of cold,” he revealed.

Perhaps even more than the stench of the trash piles and Mamdani’s not-so-great snow shoveling form as he attempts photo-ops, the following video encapsulates the sheer absurdity and depravity of the type of “warmth of collectivism” that Mamdani promises:

Manhattan: East 60th Street & 2nd Avenue, New York City is freezing alive. While @NYCMayor @ZohranKMamdani pretends everything is “under control,” homeless people are literally freezing for warmth over steam manholes for survival.  Since the beginning of the snow storm, at least 14 people died from the cold.

We are eight days after the blizzard, and the streets are still buried in snow and garbage is rotting in frozen piles. Sidewalks are impassable. Entire blocks look abandoned, like the city just… gave up. This isn’t a storm anymore. It’s neglect.

And at the top? A mayor with no plan.

“Mayor” @ZohranMamdanirefuses to use every tool available, including @NYPDnews support, because of ideological, defund-era fantasies. While he postures with his fake smile, agencies are drowning, workers are stretched thin, and people are literally freezing to death

Read that again: People are dying of cold in Manhattan.

New York City needs a whole lot more good and decent public servants like Washington D.C. snow plowing legend “Princess Cat,” and a lot fewer Zohran Mamdanis. Just sayin’.
