But on the internet, these stories paled in comparison with American Eagle’s ad campaign promoting the company’s jeans. American Eagle had the temerity to launch a campaign that features the actress Sydney Sweeney, a buxom blonde who seems suspiciously un-woke. No one complained when Beyonce was featured in a jeans ad campaign, but a white girl? Nazi propaganda! One of the stupidest faux controversies on record spawned a record number of memes.
