The state of Minnesota has reportedly filed suit in federal court here to stop the enfocement of federal immigration law that state and local authorities “would prefer not to.”
The linked NBC News story quotes the hustler who holds the office of Minnesota Attorney General: “We allege that the obvious targeting of Minnesota for our diversity, for our democracy and our differences of opinion with the federal government is a violation of the Constitution and of federal law.” Calling the deployment a federal “invasion of the Twin Cities,” Ellison said, “[t]his has to stop.”
Now that is some serious projection. I can’t find a copy of the complaint at the moment, but I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that paying out fraudulent child care or Medicaid claims might be a better use of state resources than this lawsuit.
