This May Be the Silliest Anti-ICE Protest Yet – RedState

We may just have found the most ridiculous anti-ICE protest yet. I say yet, because they can always come up with something dumber. Never underestimate those on the left. But this is pretty dumb.

At a Home Depot in Monrovia, California, they held a “buy-in.” They had people buy “ice scrapers” and stand in line to take up space. Then, after they purchased the scraper, they would return it and try to inhibit operations by doing that. Some of the folks were wearing aprons like the orange Home Depot aprons and holding anti-ICE/Home Depot signs. They said the purpose was to “scrape ICE out of their stores.”

Check the video on X here — it’s really quite something as they interview the people about what they are buying.

It was silly for multiple reasons, beyond being wrong for protesting the enforcement of the law.

First, as Home Depot explained, they’re not coordinating with ICE or the Border Patrol. They’re not involved in the operations.

“We aren’t notified that immigration enforcement activities are going to happen, and often, we don’t know operations have taken place until they’re over.

“We’re required to follow all federal and local rules and regulations in every market where we operate.”

They can’t stop what they aren’t a part of, and they don’t know anything about it ahead of time. Last I checked, Home Depot wasn’t making or enforcing the laws in this country.

These people are bothering them for nothing. It doesn’t interfere in any way with ICE operations; it’s just performative. All they are doing is getting in the way of real customers (who will likely be ticked off at them) and workers who have to put up with their nonsense.

Then, on top of that, what was humorous was that at the end of the video I linked to, they asked a few of their people what they were buying as they stood at the self-checkout stations. Each proudly said an “ice scraper.” But when they got to the guy at the end, apparently, he either hadn’t gotten the memo or was a literalist. He read off the tag on what he bought and revealed it was an Anvil plastic putty knife. And if you look at what some of the other people were holding up, it looked like they had the same thing.

It looked like this:

Pro tip, guys? A plastic putty knife and an ice scraper are two separate things. You fail on the analogy if you aren’t even buying an ice scraper. Maybe it’s a putty knife identifying as an ice scraper. Imagine thinking any of this does something, the utter waste of time here.

I guess the best thing you can say is that it wasn’t violent. So there is that.

But hey, they feel like they’re doing something consequential, that’s the important thing, right?

Chances this changes anything in what ICE or the Border Patrol are doing? Not a snowball’s chance in heck.
