Thomas Markle previously gave an insight into Meghan Markle‘s love life before she met Prince Harry in 2016. Prior to their royal wedding in 2018, the 44-year-old has previously been married to film producer Trevor Engelson for two years.
Discussing her college days, author Tina Brown previously revealed that Meghan had her “pick of the sought-after basketball hunks”. Discussing that she had spoken to Meghan’s dad whilst researching for the book, she added: “She was always very clear about who she wanted, her father told me.”
Thomas Markle, who has been estranged from Meghan since her wedding to Harry, told Ms Brown: “Her first year at college, she pointed at one guy and said: ‘That boy is going to be my boyfriend’. And he became her boyfriend…”, before making a 6-word comment that, “she’s very, very effective with men.”
Meghan’s first boyfriend was reportedly a basketball star called Steve Lepore, whom she met in her first year at Northwestern University.
The former couple are said to have dated for around five months before Steve accepted an offer to a college in North Carolina.
According to author Andrew Morton, Meghan and Steve were described as “quite the pair”.
Following another few romances, Meghan later met Trevor, with Ms Brown describing them as having a “tender dynamic”.
Speaking of Trevor and Meghan’s relationship, Ms Brown wrote: “Meghan did not feel that her producer boyfriend was helping her get good parts. Though [Trevor] Engleson was more successful, Meghan exhibited greater ambition. She nagged him to be more aggressive.”
Canadian chef Cory Vitiello was the last person that Meghan dated before meeting Prince Harry, with him having since said that there was “no bitterness” between them following their split.
Meghan married Harry in May 2018, after having dated for two years. The pair, who now have two children, now reside in California.
