Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) is in a bit of trouble, as the fraud scandal in his state that has been going on for some time has blown up nationally.
In addition to being covered by the New York Times in the wake of other journalists, it was further exposed by alleged Minnesota Department of Human Services employees who termed Walz, “100 percent responsible.” They even revealed they told Kamala Harris and the DNC about the problems during her 2024 presidential campaign, but didn’t get anywhere with them.
Walz went on Meet the Press on Sunday, and it did not go well, as we reported. He was asked about the fraud scandal. He tried some desperately bad spin. He just made himself look worse.

But he had another moment where he went off the rails trying to make it somehow about President Donald Trump. He tried to deflect from questions about his role responding to the scandal by claiming that Trump was “unwell” and demanding that he release the MRI he had taken. This was quite something with Walz of all people trying to declare someone else’s behavior “not normal.”

Trump has always released his medical records, unlike Joe Biden. And it’s humorous that Walz talks about Trump “fading quickly” or his “mental capacity.”
Trump runs rings around most politicians with the schedule he’s set himself, and he’s constantly answering questions from the media. As we reported, Trump did release the perfectly normal MRI, so that sort of blew up this latest narrative Walz was trying to push before it even really got started.
Meanwhile, in addition to Walz’s failures in the state and the scandal, he is known for the bizarre things he says, like being “friends with school shooters.”

Plus, he has no credibility whatsoever on the issue of whether or not a president is well or unwell, given his defense of Joe Biden over his cognitive decline. Where was his call for transparency with Biden? Completely missing.
It took me 8 seconds to find this story of Walz defending Biden’s cognitive decline post-debate in July 2024. So either the Meet the Press team and @kwelkernbc are that lazy, or they didn’t want to actually challenge Walz here. Going with the latter on this one… https://t.co/nFB58tq47l pic.twitter.com/1Ze9Cbazzy

Minnesota House Republican Floor Leader Rep. Harry Niska had some thoughts: “Quite possibly the least qualified evaluator of fitness for office.”

Walz is trying to defect from the Minnesota DHS scandal, but it’s not working. Maybe Tim should be releasing what information he has on the fraud. And no one needs an MRI to be able to assess that he has a lot of issues.
