Democrats Scramble to Figure Out Why Young Men Hate Them, and the Findings Are Comedy Gold

Obama screams a lot of things. Overwhelming masculinity isn’t one of them, and if he’s the only name the focus group participants could come up with, that should be a blaring red siren to Democrats to change course.

Bombshell Study Reveals Real Reason Behind Surge in Homelessness, and It’s Not What the Dems Tell You

Now we know why the numbers exploded. Thanks, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, thanks, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, thanks, former President Joe Biden and all your “progressive” brethren. You earned this.

New: The Story Behind the No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day North Carolina Democrats Had

All in all, it was a normal one for North Carolina Democrats on the whole who, this time around, have their colleagues – and not Republicans – to blame for losing. Again.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

Though the House is out, the Senate continues to plod along. Yesterday, they advanced several nominations, including confirming Sam Brown for Under Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Emil Bove as a Third Circuit judge. And President Trump is encouraging the Senate — in particular, Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) Judiciary Committee — to keep the pedal to the metal.

There are multiple hearings/meetings set Wednesday as well, including:

  • Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Securities, Insurance, and Investment Subcommittee — Hearings to examine guardrails and growth, focusing on AI’s role in capital and insurance markets
  • Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry — Hearings to examine a review of the USDA reorganization proposal
  • Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Governmental Operations and Border Management Subcommittee — Hearings to examine Congress’s role in the regulatory landscape
  • Senate Judiciary, Privacy, Technology, and the Law Subcommittee — Hearings to examine protecting and safeguarding Americans’ online data
  • Senate Foreign Relations, Africa and Global Health Policy Subcommittee — Hearings to examine finding opportunities for U.S.-Africa partnerships
  • Senate Aging (Special) — Hearings to examine awareness to action, focusing on combating elder abuse and neglect

White House What’s Up

On Wednesday, President Trump has a bill signing at 1:00 PM Eastern, and then later in the afternoon, he delivers remarks on Making Health Technology Great in the East Room. By the way, did you hear that, in addition to the flag pole installation and Rose Garden improvements, he’s having a ballroom added to the White House? Imagine it will be a dandy!

Full Court Press…

As noted above, former Trump attorney and principal associate deputy attorney general Emil Bove has now been confirmed as a judge for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals. In mid-July, Whitney Hermandorfer was confirmed to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, with two to three more circuit-level nominations in process. A week later, three district court judges were confirmed for the Eastern District of Missouri (yay!), and there are presently eight more district court nominations in process. We’re getting there…

COMING ATTRACTIONS

The release of the annex to the Durham Report is reportedly imminent.

MORNING MUSING

My default setting is “lover, not a fighter,” and I’m all for traditions and niceties…to a point. But it seems as though we may have reached that point in terms of President Trump’s nominees and the efforts of Senate Democrats to drag that process out. As noted, President Trump has strongly encouraged Senator Grassley that it may be time to stop playing nice-nice with the whole blue slip tradition.

Additionally, Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is pushing to take the gloves off and push past the obstruction tactics of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). He’s calling it Schumer’s “Find Out Moment,” and recess appointments or some other approach are likely in the works.

Looks like it’s time to go bare knuckle. And I’m good with that.

LIGHTER FARE

Always with the muffin-making!
