A leading cardiologist has raised concerns over the health of Donald Trump. Dr Jonathan Reiner was the heart specialist for the former Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away in November.
The specialist is now a medical analyst for the American broadcaster CNN and closely follows the US President’s health. In a series of comments on X, he offered a worrying view of Trump’s medical well-being, as he addressed the US nation on TV. Reiner critiqued the president’s tone and “manic” pace before focusing on Trump’s physical state.
“I’m seriously concerned about the health of the president,” the doctor wrote on X.
“No one should be happy to see the president like this,” he added. “He looks unwell.”
The cardiologist, who treated Cheyney’s severe heart disease when he was Vice President, did not go into further details. Previously, Reiner raised doubts over what the Trump White House called his “preventative MRI.”
Trump routinely boasts about his good health, but his critics are not so convinced.
A New York Times report noted a significant dip in his activity level, prompting him to lash out at the newspaper.
The US President has been suffering from a condition known as chronic venous insufficiency, according to the White House.
This causes his ankles to swell. The President has also shown persistent hand-bruising.
Meanwhile, a former aide to Trump has claimed there is a “cover-up” going on in the White House regarding the President’s health.
Sarah Matthews, a White House deputy press secretary in Trump’s first term who resigned after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, alleged that the White House even lied about Trump’s health when he got Covid in 2020.
