A GB News guest has issued a stark warning to Glamour magazine after nine biological men were crowned “Women of the Year”.
The annual award attracted a surmountable amount of criticism, with JK Rowling leading the charge, claiming that the move elevates men over women, with only trans winners gracing the special edition’s front page.
Called “The Dolls”, the reference points to the wider movement “Protect the Dolls”, which has been endorsed by a host of Hollywood A-listers.
But Diversity and Inclusion Facilitator Katy Jon Went criticised Glamour’s controversial choice for its annual list of “extraordinary and inspirational” women.
Speaking to GB News’ Dawn Neesom and Tom Harwood, the commentator said: “In the bigger scheme of things, I think it’s kind of a bad allyship that backfires.
“I think within their own target market, it was brilliant in that sense because their target market is generally pro and positive, that it’s picked up so many kinds of views and circulation on everything from X to Instagram, that it’s probably given exactly what their marketing people want.
“It’s a very visible boost to their magazine, and an indirect additional boost to the other women who were part of those awards.
“In terms of their non-target market, it’s landed very badly.”
The trans commentator added that the decision was like a “red rag to a bull” to goad on rage amongst gender critical activists.

“There’s mutual goading going on now and it’s boosting attention to the Women of the Year awards, which is a young person’s market that nobody else would have paid attention to.
“But now everyone has noticed.”
But Ms Rowling hit out at the wider message behind the cover too, questioning what sort of meaning will be picked up by young women and girls.
She said: “I grew up in an era when mainstream women’s magazines told girls they needed to be thinner and prettier. Now mainstream women’s magazines tell girls that men are better women than they are.”
Dawn then asked the GB News guest: “What message does it send to young women and older women like myself that where a biological man is a better Woman of Year than I am?”
The commentator gave a more measured response than Ms Rowling, taking into consideration the pro-trans movement across society.
“It sends a mixed message, as I say, because of where society is at right now. But instead of looking for peaceful coexistence, it is like lobbing another grenade over the trenches right now,” the guest told GB News.
On the Glamour cover, the models include the likes of Munroe Bergdorf, who previously declared that “all white people as a group are brought up racist”.
JK Rowling publicly mocked Glamour | GETTYThe Doll further said that the white race is “the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth”. Following the comments, L’Oreal Paris gave the model the boot.
In the story, penned by a transgender author, insists that there is a “committed attempt from anti-trans pressure groups and Right-wing politicians to make exclusionary policy the default across British public life”.
They further claimed that society attempts to “deny our existence” through increasing obstacles to “toilets, changing rooms, leisure facilities, workplaces, hospital wards and crisis support services”.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ruled that the term “women” referred to biological sex under the Equality Act 2010.
