Trashing the Crown Jewels | Power Line

From London, another story about disgusting protesters: “‘Tax the rich’ activists vandalise Crown Jewels with crumble and custard.”

Police arrested four people after officers rushed to the Tower following reports of an incident shortly before 10am.

They found that food had been thrown onto a case containing the State Crown, which is used at coronations and state openings of Parliament.

A group calling itself Take Back Power staged the attack, with members of the group filmed unfurling a sign reading: “Democracy has crumbled – tax the rich”.

Anyone who thinks Britain’s problem is that it doesn’t sufficiently tax the “rich” is an idiot. And I don’t think these goofs would have much success “taking back power” from anyone:

These people have the usual grievances of the Left–they want to steal money from the “rich.” But the anti-Semitic element never quite goes away:

Ms Cranch has previously protested against the banning of Palestine Action and was arrested in July in connection with a demonstration in Parliament Square in support of the group.

Ms Ali, a history student, was also arrested in July following a demonstration in support of Palestine Action. She said at the time: “The starvation in Gaza, it’s disgusting. And our Government isn’t doing anything about that.”

Speaking of disgusting, members of the same group dumped manure inside the Ritz Hotel:

On Wednesday afternoon, members of Take Back Power emptied bags of manure next to the 25ft Christmas tree in the lobby of the Ritz Hotel, in central London, in a demonstration against wealth inequality.

They were seen in footage posted on social media being swiftly removed by staff before sitting outside the hotel with signs reading “Inequality is s—. Tax the rich”.

This is what that tree looked like one time when I was in London around Christmas:

These actions are not legitimate protests, they are vandalism. Crimes. One of the Tower protesters recalls her mistreatment at the hands of the authorities:

Ms Ali was previously arrested alongside five other young women when police broke up a Youth Demand meeting at the Quaker Meeting House in London in March. She said she was held in a “freezing” cell for 17 hours.

See, here’s the problem: 17 hours is nowhere near enough. These vandals need to be sentenced to prison. It doesn’t have to be a long sentence, a year would probably do it, with no parole and no time off for good behavior. If they knew a year in the slammer awaited them, these acts of vandalism would stop immediately. But that would require a government that actually represents the people.
