President Trump has made a habit of flabbergasting the lapdog legacy media—something that has continued from the first term into the Trump 47 administration without a hitch.
On Saturday, the United States and Israel struck a major blow via air strikes on Iran and its authoritarian regime, as RedState wrote.
I think the president’s first interview after the military action against Iran with Kristen Welker of NBC News—on the fate of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and its mullahs—just might be the pinnacle moment of the fake news people being stumped so far. More on that in a minute.

BREAKING: Iran’s Ayatollah Khameini Confirmed Dead
Okay, now in the few minutes before Khameini’s death became publicly confirmed, Pres. Trump called in for a phone interview with NBC News about reporting on the Ayatollah’s death. Meet The Press host Kristen Welker then spoke on air with NBC’s anchor just after getting finished with the conversation with the president to report the breaking news.

Welker: Let me read you the key takeaways. I asked President Trump”I asked President Trump if he had confirmation that Ayatollah Khamenei has, in fact, been killed. He said to me, ‘I’ve spoken to a lot of people. We feel that is a correct story.”
She went on with another quote from the president: “A large number of their leaders [mullahs] have also been killed.” Welker tells the anchor that “was significant. Not just one person…according to Pres. Trump in this phone call that I had with him, he believes…that the supreme leader has been killed, along with a large amount [sic] of leadership.”
Trump told her that during the second and third attacks was when those deaths happened. When pressed by Welker on “when he would know this operation was a success,” he said, “We’re probably, in terms of zero to 10, we’reclose to the 10 spot.” NBC’s host said the conversation lasted about three minutes.
Notice something in the clip. Welker’s expression and tone of voice (intermingled with the anchor’s seeming shock) were those of someone stuck in disbelief mode. I think the right word is “stupified.” The mainstream media is continually stunned by the major successes of this administration.

Maybe that should not be surprising, given the media’s penchant for hailing the Democrats—for decades—as the adults in the room for most things, but especially when it comes to diplomacy/foreign policy.

The Left is nothing if not trained to live with low expections. You saw how they acted with former President Joe Biden, and with Democrat presidential nominee, then-VP Kamala Harris. It all starts to make sense.
The same, naturally, is true of the leftist legacy media that has long served the Democrats’ interests. We did see a positive sign of change recently, with the addition of CBS News’ new head honcho Bari Weiss by Warner Brothers Discovery, and now the potential of Paramount buying the parent company (which also owns CNN). It will be interesting in the coming days to see if this cataclysmic, world-changing event by Trump turns their focus.
