President Donald Trump and members of his Cabinet have come to the defense of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles following a Vanity Fair hit job.
Wiles is featured in a VF cover article by Chris Whipple, after the White House gave the outlet access to the West Wing for the better part of the year. In the piece, the Chief of Staff opens up about the last 11 months on the job under Trump at each “moment of crisis.”
Most of the article is very negative, down to even the awful photos that were selected, featuring people like Wiles, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Deputy chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and deputy chief of Staff Dan Scavino. Miller, Scavino and Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair are even described as the “pit bulls.”
Whipple wrote about comments Wiles reportedly made about Vance, who is described by the author as the “Heir Apparent.”
It read:
“Vance’s conversion from Never Trumper to MAGA acolyte, she said, has been ‘sort of political.’ The vice president, she added, has been ‘a conspiracy theorist for a decade.’”
On Tuesday, Vance brilliantly flipped the comments during a speech in Pennsylvania, pointing out that the conspiracy theories he’s believed have come true, as my RedState colleague Sister Toldjah reported.

In response to the article, Wiles hit back in a post on X, labeling it a “disingenuously framed hit piece on me and the finest President, White House staff, and Cabinet in history.”
“Significant context was disregarded and much of what I, and others, said about the team and the President was left out of the story,” Wiles wrote. “I assume, after reading it, that this was done to paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team.”

“The truth is the Trump White House has already accomplished more in eleven months than any other President has accomplished in eight years, and that is due to the unmatched leadership and vision of President Trump, for whom I have been honored to work for the better part of a decade,” she added. None of this will stop our relentless pursuit of Making America Great Again!”
Other members of the Trump Cabinet slammed the piece, wanting to set the record straight.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth added, “This is what the Left does: trash & smear our best & most effective people. They do it to President Trump daily — and now to Chief Susie Wiles. Susie is the most trusted most professional, and most effective Chief of Staff of my lifetime. Absolutely nobody better!”
Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wrote, “Susie Wiles is arguably the most perfect presidential chief of staff in modern American history. She is the first female to occupy that position, but more importantly, she is a leader who combines deftness, kindness, and compassion with a maternal toughness and discipline that elevates the entire White House apparatus.”

“Her impeccable judgment, moral center, intuitive understanding of the President’s intentions, and her ability to translate his vision into concrete policy have earned her universal trust and respect of the cabinet, which, consequently, functions more as an unusually efficient family than as assemblage of competing rivals,” he added.
Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said, “Susie Wiles is an excellent leader, and her role as the first woman chief of staff in United States history is historic. She has helped President Trump assemble a tremendous team, and she is an absolute force in delivering, at neck-breaking speed, on the President’s agenda and the mandate to deliver results to Americans. It’s is an honor and pleasure to work with Susie.”
Another part of the article that has received a lot of attention is when Wiles reportedly described Trump as having an “alcoholic’s personality.”
It read:
“Some clinical psychologist that knows one million times more than I do will dispute what I’m going to say. But high-functioning alcoholics or alcoholics in general, their personalities are exaggerated when they drink. And so I’m a little bit of an expert in big personalities.” Wiles said Trump has “an alcoholic’s personality.” He “operates [with] a view that there’s nothing he can’t do. Nothing, zero, nothing.”
But Trump himself told The New York Post that he has a “possessive personality.”
“No, she meant that I’m — you see, I don’t drink alcohol. So everybody knows that — but I’ve often said that if I did, I’d have a very good chance of being an alcoholic. I have said that many times about myself, I do. It’s a very possessive personality,” Trump said.
“I’ve said that many times about myself. I’m fortunate I’m not a drinker. If I did, I could very well, because I’ve said that — what’s the word? Not possessive — possessive and addictive type personality. Oh, I’ve said it many times, many times before.”
“I didn’t read it, but I don’t read Vanity Fair — but she’s done a fantastic job,” Trump continued. “I think from what I hear, the facts were wrong, and it was a very misguided interviewer, purposely misguided.”
When asked if she has his full confidence, Trump didn’t hesitate. “Oh, she’s fantastic.”
