WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) announced on Wednesday that it is partnering with 40 right-of-center organizations, including America First Policy Institute, Hillsdale College, and Turning Point USA, on a new initiative to revitalize American civics education.
The America 250 Civics Education Coalition is “dedicated to renewing patriotism, strengthening civic knowledge, and advancing a shared understanding of America’s founding principles in schools across the nation,” according to a DOE press release. “With oversight from U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and the Department, the AFPI-led coalition will spearhead nationwide initiatives to engage students, educators, and communities in conversations about liberty, citizenship, and America’s enduring values.”
The coalition will be led by Executive Director Katie Gorka, Co-Chair Erika Donalds, and Co-Chair Dr. Ben Judge, who over the next year will detail a “robust programming agenda” including lecture tours visiting college campuses in every state. A dedicated website for the project is live, featuring a complete list of coalition partners and leadership committee members. Further information will be added as time goes on, but at this time it contains no further details about the actual content of the project.
“As America approaches 250 years since its founding, we are proud to announce this coalition to ensure every young American understands the beauty of our nation and is equipped with the civic knowledge required to contribute meaningfully to its future,” said McMahon. “A country cannot survive if its values are forgotten by its people. More than ever, we need to restore the vitality of the American spirit, and this coalition will take bold steps to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth toward active and informed citizenship.”
Regardless, American institutions of higher education have long been recognized as heavily dominated by left-wing bias and historical revisionism, conditioning students to reject religion, traditional morality, and free markets, and to view America as a uniquely malignant force in the world, a society systemically rigged against the poor and minority groups. These past two weeks, the extent of the bias has been illustrated by the alarming number of professors who have publicly mocked or celebrated the murder of populist influencer Charlie Kirk.
President Donald Trump has issued executive orders to deny federal funds to educational entities that indoctrinate students through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
