Donald Trump has issued another huge warning to Iran as fears over the possible outbreak of a devastating World War 3 soar to alarming levels. President Trump issued a chilling 12-word warning when asked if he was aware of any hangings as the death toll continues to rise.
The president previously warned the Islamic regime that he would take military action if they harmed protesters. Since then, at least 2,000 protesters in Iran have been killed. Trump vowed the US would take “very strong action” if the “red line” had been crossed.
Issuing a stern warning President Trump said it won’t “work out good” if claims about hanging protesters ring true.
“I haven’t heard about their hangings, if there’re any,’ Trump told CBS as he toured a Ford factory in Detroit on Tuesday. ‘We will take very strong action if they do such a thing.”
CBS’ Tony Dokoupil asked, “And this strong action – are we talking about, what’s the end game?”
Trump replied: “If they wanna have protests, that’s one thing. When they start killing thousands of people – now you’re telling me about hanging – we’ll see how that works out for them. It’s not gonna work out good.”
His remarks came after reports from rights groups claiming that the Iranian government plans to execute the first protester on Wednesday for his alleged role in the nationwide demonstrations.
Erfan Soltani, a resident of Fardis near Tehran, could be the first person sentenced to death in the ongoing crackdown on protesters, the Norway-based Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights has reported.
The organisation added that Mr Soltani’s family learned of the ruling only on Monday and has been refused information concerning both the charges and the judicial proceedings.
In a message to Iranians earlier today on Truth Social Trump said that “help was on its way” and urged demonstrators to carry on with their protests and “take over institutions”.
It remains unclear what Mr Trump meant by saying that “help is on its way,” but White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters yesterday (January 12) that airstrikes were among the “many, many options” the president was considering, while stressing that diplomacy “was always the first option.”
