President Donald Trump has followed Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s move in Texas by officially designating “chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood” as a foreign terror organization.
In a post on Monday on X, the White House wrote that “America will not tolerate those who fund and fuel radical terrorism.”
“Today, President Trump took decisive action to secure America from terrorist threats by initiating the process to designate certain Muslim Brotherhood entities as Foreign Terrorist Organizations,” it added.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order directing the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Treasury to consider whether certain chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood should be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs),” the press release read.
It added the following about the details of the Executive Order:
The Order directs the two aforementioned Secretaries, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence, to submit a report on whether to designate any Muslim Brotherhood chapters, such as those in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan, as FTOs under 8 U.S.C. 1189 and SDGTs under with 50 U.S.C. 1702 and Executive Order 13224.
It mandates the Secretary of State and Secretary of Treasury take action within 45 days after the report to designate chapters as FTOs and SDGTs if appropriate.
The Order’s ultimate aim is to eliminate the designated chapters’ capabilities and operations, deprive them of resources, and end any threat such chapters pose to U.S. nationals and the national security of the United States.

Last week, Gov. Abbott announced he was designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as “foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs), citing both groups’ ties to Islamic extremism and accusing them of seeking to “forcibly impose Sharia law,” RedState reported.
The press release read:
The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world.’ The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable.
Today, I designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.
In October, President Trump took another step in his promise to make America safe again when he instructed his cabinet to designate Antifa as a “foreign terrorist organization,” as my RedState colleague streiff reported.
