The big news all weekend was the possible imminent end to the destructive, performative Schumer Shutdown, which has caused nothing but chaos and uncertainty.
Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been leading a pack of crowing Democrats who think that the passage of his gerrymandering, state constitution-shredding Prop. 50 and Dem election wins in New York City, Virginia, and New Jersey mean that they’re suddenly in power again.
Donald Trump just reminded them that such is not the case, and that he is still president of the United States.
And remind them he did with a move that will send them shrieking into the wilderness with fury: he pardoned dozens of figures – including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and one-time White House chief of staff Mark Meadows – who were relentlessly pursued by the Biden DOJ for their alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

President Donald Trump issued a sweeping pardon to key figures allegedly involved in the plan to arrange an alternate slate of electors and “expose voting fraud” during the 2020 election, according to U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin.
Trump pardoned high-profile individuals allegedly involved in his attempt to overturn the election, including Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Boris Epshteyn, John Eastman and Mark Meadows — and 72 other individuals allegedly associated with the effort to challenge the 2020 election results.
I’m buying earplugs ASAP because of the caterwauling we’ll soon be hearing endlessly from the Left. But what leg do they have to stand on, really, when Biden pardoned a slew of miscreants by autopen in the waning days of his presidency and personally signed one for his troubled son Hunter even after months of promising he would do no such thing?

According to ABC News, the pardons center around alleged efforts by Trump supporters in Georgia to verifythe election results:
The pardon, which Trump appears to have signed on Friday, covers each of the president’s co-defendants who were charged in Georgia for a sweeping scheme to overturn election results.

The pardon does not apply to Trump himself.
It will be interesting to see if – and how – these pardons affect the ongoing negotiations to end the Schumer Shutdown and the already fraught relationship between the GOP and the Democrats.
