Trump says admin is ‘very strongly’ investigating link between transgenderism and violence

(LifeSiteNews) — The Trump administration says it will be looking into a potential link between transgender ideology and political violence, though it is not yet prepared to announce definitive actions or conclusions.

Over the weekend, the Daily Wire asked President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One about the fact that the shooters of both conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, Annunciation Catholic School, and Covenant School were all either gender-confused themselves or motivated at least in part by gender ideology, as was the man arrested for plotting to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“You know, we’re looking at that. What’s the reason for it?” Trump responded. “Yeah, there seems to be something. But we’re looking at it very strongly. Something seems to be going on.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asked the next day that transgender violence was “definitely something worth looking into.”

“I think anyone who denies that at this point is being willfully ignorant,” she said. “And the administration is taking it seriously, all causes of violence and why these people would be driven to such evil and such hatred. And there [are] probably many answers to that question, but the administration is really focused on all of them.”

Authorities say Kirk’s alleged killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was motivated by his view of Kirk as “hateful.” Robinson was in a relationship with his male roommate, who was in the process of “transitioning” to female.

On Monday, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told Newsmax host Rob Schmitt that investigators are looking at a chat room on the platform Discord in which Robinson participated and a “potential broader network of people who may have known” what he was planning. He cautioned that the investigation was still in the early stages and the FBI was not yet certain of who knew what when.

Robert “Robin” Westman, the man who shot at least 20 people at Annunciation Catholic School the month before and then took his own life, expressed a wide range of extreme leftist ideological grievances in his online manifesto and had his name legally changed in 2020 to identify as female.

Audrey “Aiden” Hale, the perpetrator of last year’s Covenant School shooting, left behind a 90-page journal in which she declared (among other things), “I wish death upon myself cause of the pure hatred of my female gender […] Why does my brain not work right? Cause I was born wrong!!! Nothing on Earth can save me. Never-ending pain. Religion won’t save.”

And Kavanaugh’s would-be assassin, Nicholas Roske, was arrested in 2022 and soon determined to be motivated primarily by abortion, but it has recently been revealed that he now seeks to be identified as female.

Several theories have been posited to explain the trend, from the values of left-wing extremists dehumanizing their political opponents, to ideology-driven doctors’ rush to attribute mental and emotional problems to gender dysphoria leaving other maladies to fester undiagnosed and untreated, to the mental toll of giving confused children large doses of hormone-altering drugs their bodies were never meant to handle.
