Donald Trump has endorsed a claim that the UK is “collapsing” as a result of immigration, sharing a screenshot of a highly inflammatory message on his Truth Social platform. Mr Trump, who has been particularly outspoken on the subject in recent days, shared the message by Brenden Dilley (@WarlordDilley) on Friday morning.
It said: “We have two options. Deport every single third-world migrant, illegal alien and America-hating Visa holder. Or surrender your nation the way the United Kingdom have, and watch your society collapse in the coming years.”
Since his 2016 election campaign, Donald Trump has repeatedly criticised immigration into the UK and Europe — arguing it changes culture and poses security risks. In 2016 he predicted Britain would vote to leave the EU because of “migration craziness” and mass inflows.
More recently, during a 2025 visit to the UK, he urged to “call out the military” if necessary to halt illegal migration via small‑boat crossings — saying unchecked immigration could “destroy countries from within.”
He intensified his anti-immigrant rhetoric Tuesday, repeatedly referring to Somali immigrants in the US as “garbage” during a Cabinet meeting.
The President told the nation’s estimated 260,000 people of Somali descent: “We don’t want ‘em in our country,” and encouraged them to “go back to where they came from.”
Cabinet members reportedly cheered and applauded the President’s remarks, with Vice President JD Vance seen pumping a fist and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth saying: “Well said.”
The President further escalated his attack by calling outspoken critic and Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar “garbage” and stating: “Her friends are garbage”.
Trump’s comments drew immediate shock and condemnation, including from an unnamed resident of Mogadishu and Representative Omar, who called the President’s focus on her and Somali-Americans “creepy and unhealthy”.
Experts noted that Mr Trump’s language is more negative toward immigrants than that of the average member of his own party, potentially legitimising such rhetoric in everyday conversation.
