President Trump has published the letter he has sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been slapped with sweeping 30 per cent tariffs over an alleged trade deficit.
The leader of the US, which has a GDP of $27 trillion, sent a letter containing his demands to Željka Cvijanović, current President of the eastern bloc country, which has a GDP of just $27 billion.
The letter began: “It is a Great Honor for me to send you this letter in that it demonstrates the strength and commitment of our Trading Relationship, and the fact that the United States of America has agreed to continue working with Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite having a significant Trade Deficit with your great Country.”
Pivoting to a pitch, he then says: “We invite you to participate in the extraordinary Economy of the United States, the Number One Market in the World by far.”
But the President goes on to make his economic threats clear, warning:”If for any reason you decide to raise you Tariffs then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 30% we charge… This deficit is a major threat to our Economy and, indeed, our National Security!”
