Al Arabiya cites sources claiming that President Donald Trump‘s administration is planning airstrikes amid Tehran’s crackdown on protests.
The demonstrations started two weeks ago and have grown as the country’s economy suffers and frustration with the autocratic regime mounts.
An internet blackout has been imposed by the Iranian regime, making information coming out of the country scarce.
But, video footage has shown violent clashes between protesters and security services. Hospitals in Tehran are reportedly overwhelmed due to injuries and deaths.
US President Donald Trump warned Iranian dictator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that Washington will intervene if the regime inflicts violence on protesters.
Mr Trump as reportedly been briefed on strike options as the White House mulls an attack on Iran.
