Tucker Carlson: Americans ‘marinate in lies’ from Israel’s ‘incredibly sophisticated propaganda’

(LifeSiteNews) — In what has been described as an “extraordinary” monologue last week, Tucker Carlson sharply criticized what is often dubbed the “special relationship” between the U.S. and Israel, denouncing how American officials have allowed the government of this “tiny” country to “humiliate” the nation, censor the public while simultaneously “marinating” them in propaganda lies over decades and slandering anyone who deviates from their agenda “even a little bit” as “Nazis,” “antisemites” or the like.

Looking toward a solution, the former Fox News host provided proposals on how to “restore health and balance the relationship between the United States and Israel” that include getting “some global perspective” on the question, reestablishing “self-respect” for the nation “and stop being ordered around by a client state,” “restore the concept of citizenship” in the U.S., and “get our theology right.”

“There’s only one story going on, and it’s Israel,” stated Carlson, describing the conversations happening on social media which he considers “America’s only remaining news source.”

Offering perspective on this question, the popular host compared the two nations deeming Israel to be, by comparison, “a tiny and inherently insignificant country, at least geopolitically” since it has “only nine million people” and “no meaningful natural resources.”

“And yet, despite its objective insignificance, it is the focus of the conversation,” he observed. “But it’s also the focus of the spending” including over “$30 billion” in military aid just since October 7, 2023, and “$300 billion at least” over 80 years in just “on-books numbers.”

“Israel is by far — no one comes close — the largest recipient of U.S. aid over time,” and since Egypt, the second highest recipient, is awarded their funds due to the regional priorities of Israel, “you could probably add that to the tally” as well, he said.

“We are spending our time, our money, and we’re taking enormous risks on behalf of a country that geopolitically is not significant at all,” the commentator said, summarizing the costs to the U.S. These include its strained relationships with massive nations like China and India, whom, with the overwhelming majority of the world, “hate” and reject the war in Gaza, which he classified as “not even really a war” but “a massive displacement of people and killing on a grand scale of unarmed people, of unarmed combatants, of civilians, of women and children.”

Americans ‘marinate in lies’ regarding Israel, a ‘complete inversion of the truth’

And with the U.S. having isolated itself from virtually the entire world on these important issues, Carlson asserted that “most Americans have no perspective on just how disproportionate our commitment is” to Israel “because they marinate in lies about this relationship, mostly from our political class, (but) also from the media.”

Thus, in addressing Israel’s sophisticated propaganda programs that often produce “lies” that amount to a “complete inversion of the truth,” he cited former presidential candidate Nikki Haley who in a 2023 debate forcefully asserted “it is not that Israel needs America. America needs Israel!”

Such a claim “is in no sense true,” Carlson retorted. “The truth, which is obvious to anyone who looks at the numbers or is paying any attention at all, is that Israel could not survive without the United States.” In fact, “there is no world in which America needs Israel more than Israel needs the United States.”

‘A state of perpetual intimidation,’ fear of being ‘attacked as an antisemite’

Additionally, such Israeli propaganda that continually inverses the truth, mostly proceeding from U.S. elected officials, has been “generational,” Carlson explained. “They’ve been doing it for many decades.”

And politicians are not challenged on such gravely false statements because any reporters who considered such an inquiry “would have paused for fear of being attacked as an anti-Semite for asking a question about geopolitics,” he continued.

“This has been the state of play in the United States for my entire life, over 50 years,” the pundit said. “Politicians make nonsensical statements; nobody wants to even ask a follow-up question for fear of being attacked. It is a state of perpetual intimidation. Everybody’s afraid of Israel, afraid of the topic, afraid in some cases of the state itself.

“We have not had an honest conversation about this ever — certainly not in my lifetime. And that suits the Israelis just fine.”

Demands officials ‘not prostrate themselves before a foreign nation’

“The true shame here, the actual villain in this story, is the leadership of the United States that is putting up with serial humiliation for decades,” Carlson continued.

Therefore, the second piece of advice he offered for fixing this “poisonous relationship” is for our national leaders to “get some freaking self-respect and stop being ordered around by a client state.”

Comparing this “unhealthy relationship” with a parent being constantly screamed at by his children, the popular host admonished, “if you’re going to have that relationship of a parent to a child, you cannot be yelled at, humiliated, spied upon, bossed around by the child, by the person in the inherently subordinate position.”

Hence, the U.S. “can’t be shamed into ignoring things that are quite clearly not the behavior of a subordinate ally to a big brother ally,” he said, going on to cite Israel’s spying on American officials, including the Jonathan Pollard affair, Israel’s 1967 bombing of the U.S.S. Liberty, and reports of Israeli army officers during the recent “12-day war” enraging Pentagon staff “barging into meetings, giving orders, making demands, and nobody did anything about it.”

“The more you allow that kind of deeply unhealthy behavior, the more you’re going to get, and that’s exactly what has happened because of the weakness of our leaders,” he said. “We have incited predators in a foreign country to take advantage of us.”

He went on to demand that elected officials fulfill their “sacred duty” to “defend and represent” Americans against “all foreign countries” and that “they do not prostrate themselves before a foreign nation.”

Netanyahu brags ‘about how he is censoring Americans’

Carlson said the U.S. government has been “taking orders” from Israel “for a very long time” and now “they’re not even pretending” it’s any different. He showed a clip of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent meeting with American “pro-Israel influencers” in New York, where he openly meddles in “internal American politics” despite being a leader and citizen of a foreign nation.

“You wouldn’t think it would be his business,” he said. And yet Netanyahu is “going on television to attack Americans because they’re not fully on board with sending billions more (dollars) to a country of nine million people?”

Asked in the clip how pro-Israel influencers might combat dangers to Zionist support in the United States due to commentary from popular Israel-critics Candace Owens and Carlson, Netanyahu directed his listeners to considering social media as “tools for battle” and then emphasized the expected purchase of TikTok by Zionist billionaires to be “most important” in serving Israel’s interests in this regard.

“Imagine, this is a foreign leader bragging about how he is censoring Americans,” Carlson observed. “Again, this guy runs a country of nine million people that is totally dependent on our tax dollars to exist.”

And yet, he asserts — without bothering to explain why — that any American who dissents from his policy objectives, opposing “more aid to Israel” or “getting sucked into war with Iran which does not serve American interests,” is “not simply mistaken or wrong … that person is a Nazi, part of the ‘Woke Reich,’ a Nazi,” he mocked.

‘Brutal’ propaganda ‘where anyone who disagrees’ is ‘immediately slandered and smeared’

Further, the only way to combat challenges to the Israeli government’s policy objectives in the United States is by “preventing Americans from hearing the other side,” Carlson continued. And thus, Netanyahu basically admits the Israel Lobby pushed Congress to force the sale of TikTok in order “to commit censorship in the United States” as they believe American free speech “is bad” for them and their interests.

The Israeli prime minister also told the influencers, many of whom are exorbitantly paid by the U.S.-backed Israeli government, that with regard to censoring speech on X / Twitter, “we have to talk to Elon (Musk)” the platform’s centibillionaire owner, who is a “friend.”

Given that “free speech is central to the entire idea of America, in fact, it’s really the only thing that sets us apart from any other country on earth,” Carlson clarified Netanyahu, the head of a state totally dependent on the U.S., “is saying Americans don’t have that right and he’s going to do some kind of secret pressure campaign on Elon Musk to censor X because it bothers Israel.”

“That’s why when you go on social media you see person after person taking that guy’s line repeating foreign government talking points on social media,” he observed. This is part of “a brutal and brutish propaganda campaign where anyone who disagrees with anything is immediately slandered and smeared” with calumnies.

No serving in a foreign military, no dual citizenship

The third proposal Carlson offers for balancing the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is to “restore the value of citizenship” in the United States that must include equality, justice before the law and free speech.

And to ensure the value of such citizenship is enhanced, “the first thing you would do is not allow dual citizenship,” he said. “Can you really serve two masters simultaneously?”

“It shouldn’t be allowed for a single moment,” Carlson argued, because it inherently indicates dual loyalty no matter what country it comes from since all nations have distinct interests.

Furthermore, the pundit demanded, one should not be allowed to serve in a foreign military without losing their American citizenship.

“Each country is different, and each country has a different set of priorities,” the former Fox News host reasoned. “And if you’re fighting in a military for another country, you are not serving America’s priorities, (rather) you’re taking up arms on behalf of a foreign power.” And if this is the case, “you’re done” being a U.S. citizen he implored.

With many Americans having participated in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, as well as having fought for Ukraine and other countries, such persons should lose their citizenship “immediately,” he said. “Of course, obviously,” this should be the penalty. “It’s amazing” such scenarios are even permitted.

Also, Carlson demanded that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) register under FARA, the Foreign Agent Registration Act of 1938.

AIPAC is “a foreign lobby that is acting on behalf of foreign government interests,” he said, “it’s one of many, but it’s the only one that doesn’t have to register and, of course, it should register immediately.”

“You should know who is giving money to your politicians … who is influencing them,” he said. “There should be a record of that as there is with any other lobby of a foreign power. And only AIPAC is exempt.”

Get theology right: Christian Zionism a ‘heresy’ that seeks to justify ‘killing the innocent’

Finally, in seeking to restore both balance to the U.S.-Israel relationship and “sanity to the public conversation on the topic,” Carlson affirmed the necessity of getting “our theology right.”

He charged prominent Christian Zionists of spreading the oldest of the Christian heresies that “God somehow prefers some people based on their DNA.” Responding to this error, he said the entire “point of Christianity” is that God’s call to be His people, in communion with Him, is universal. “The chosen people in Christianity are those who choose Jesus,” he said.

And thus, the proposal that supporting the “secular abortion-on-demand government of Israel” is some sort of religious obligation for a Christian is “heresy.”

In fact, “it’s deranged, and you know it’s deranged” because in the context of Israel’s genocidal war against the people of Gaza, this heresy seeks to justify “killing the innocent. And in Christianity if there’s one thing that’s crystal clear, it’s that Christians cannot abide the killing of the innocent,” Carlson proclaimed. “People who have done nothing wrong cannot be killed. That’s a sin. You are not allowed to do that, period.”

“And if you find anyone leveraging the message of Jesus to justify the killing of the innocent, that person is committing heresy,” he confirmed.
