Two people have died after being involved in a horrific four-vehicle crash on the A370 in Bristol. The collision occurred on the Long Ashton bypass between the roundabout junction with Colliters Way, the A4174 South Bristol Link Road, on the edge of Bristol and the B3130 turn-off for Nailsea at Flax Bourton.
The road was closed for around 17 hours after emergency services rushed to the scene at around 7.45pm, but reopened on Sunday afternoon. The families of the deceased have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers. No one inside the two other vehicles suffered serious injuries.
Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the moments before to get in contact with them using the reference number 5226064142.
The force said: “An investigation has been launched following a fatal collision near Bristol yesterday evening (Saturday 7 March). We were called at around 7.45pm to a two-vehicle collision on the A370 at Yanley, near Long Ashton.
“Despite the efforts of emergency personnel on the scene, the drivers of both cars sadly died. Both families have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this time.”
