Two More Biden-Commuted Death Row Inmates Now Headed for Supermax – RedState

One of the last presidential acts of Joe Biden (or whoever was running the autopen) was to commute the death sentences of 37 federal prisoners awaiting execution. That was a dastardly little piece of grandstanding, when you consider the nature of these people’s crimes. When it comes to presidential pardons and commutations, though, what’s done is done, and these acts can’t be undone.

But we should note that in the case of these commutations, the goblins who were awaiting a date with a needle have now only been reprieved as far a life sentence; they will (justly) never breathe free air again, and the Trump administration’s Justice Department under Attorney General Pam Bondi is making sure of that by sending them to the famous Supermax prison in Colorado.

Some have already been sent to their final destination. Now, we learn that the DOJ has moved two more, and these are nasty characters indeed.

Two federal inmates previously on death row, one a crooked New Orleans cop and the other the man behind a multi-state killing spree, have been transferred to a notorious “supermax” prison in Colorado, the Justice Department told Fox News Digital.

News of their transfers comes as U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi looks to crack down on the previous administration’s sweeping clemency actions, especially those against violent crime.

The former death row inmates were transferred Thursday to the U.S. Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence, Colorado, also known as “ADX,” Justice Department officials confirmed.

Here are the two in question:

One individual chased down his ex-girlfriend from Roanoke, Virginia, to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he cut the phone lines to the apartment she was living in before using cans of gasoline to set the building on fire.

Though she escaped via a second-story window and was hospitalized for second-and third-degree burns, he followed her back to her family’s home in Virginia two months later, where he gunned her down on the streets of her neighborhood and just steps from her mother.

Another inmate, a former New Orleans police officer dubbed “Robocop” for his large physical demeanor and aggressive law enforcement style, was caught on tape by the FBI as he ordered and orchestrated the killing of a mother of three who had come to the precinct hours earlier to submit a supposedly confidential brutality complaint about his behavior that she witnessed on her way home the night before.

We may have wished for these two to face a rather different final destination, at least a little more quickly than they will now. That ending comes to us all, after all, good and bad – at least they are in a place that befits their nature.

Biden Commuted Their Death Sentences – Now AG Bondi Is Sending Them to Supermax

As I noted in September when the first round of these transfers was made, humans are social creatures. We are at our best when we can associate with other humans, when we can move about, and when we can see the sky. Supermax prisoners are confined to a 7-by-12-foot concrete cell 23 hours a day. And by concrete, I mean the walls, floor, a minimal desk, a stool, and a bed slab – all concrete. They have a stainless-steel sink/toilet combination and a minimal shower. Their only view is a window slit in the concrete wall, four feet tall but only four inches wide. Their meals are delivered through a slot in the cell door. They get one or two hours a day to exercise, alone, in a solitary outdoor cage. They have almost no human contact.

And, it’s hard to feel much sympathy for them. They are murderers and terrorists, virtually to a man, and they are now where they belong, including the two just transferred.
