Ukrainian refugee train killing: Full video of Iryna Zarutzka ‘murder’ spreads online

The full video of the killing of a Ukrainian refugee on a train in the US has spread online.

Footage of the August 22 incident had come to light just days ago, which stopped the moment before alleged murderer Decarlos Brown Jr attacked Iryna Zarutzka with a knife.

But now, the graphic clip from Charlotte, North Carolina has spread across the internet – sparking fury as a result.

A 19-minute-long CCTV clip appears to show the attack and its bloody aftermath. GB News has not shared those highly graphic images.

But in the video, some minutes pass before bystanders step in to help the 23-year-old Ukrainian, who fled Kyiv six months after the Russian invasion in 2022.

Multiple passengers were seen pointing as she slumped to the floor – despite a large amount of blood in the carriage.

One brave bystander went on to jump into action, trying to hold the woman in an apparent bid to save her.

After several minutes, more members of the public joined in. By that time, however, it was too late.

After the full footage was shared, outrage has erupted at Ms Zarutzka’s fellow travellers.

“Not a single person stepped in to help. Nobody cared. This should radicalise you,” American conservative influencer Braeden Sorbo said.

Over in the UK, independent MP Rupert Lowe vowed: “We must make the West safe again for the millions of young women just like Iryna Zarutska.”

British journalist Lewis Brackpool said he was “so caught off guard” by the clip, he “had to step outside” and “genuinely thought [he] was going to be sick”.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has now unleashed a federal prosecution against Brown Jr.

The alleged killer, 34 and homeless, has a history of mental health problems, arrests and convictions. He had already been charged with first-degree murder in North Carolina.

But Ms Bondi said on Tuesday: “Iryna Zarutska was a young woman living the American dream – her horrific murder is a direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent people.

“I have directed my attorneys to federally prosecute DeCarlos Brown Jr, a repeat violent offender with a history of violent crime, for murder.

“We will seek the maximum penalty for this unforgivable crime, and he will never again see the light of day as a free man.”

Republican Congresspeople from North Carolina have now demanded the removal of a state judge who released Brown Jr.

All 10 representatives have signed a letter calling for formal proceedings to remove Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes who freed him without bail earlier this year.

“Ms Zarutska’s murder was not only a profound personal tragedy but also a direct result of a failure of judicial responsibility,” the lawmakers said.

“By releasing a repeat violent offender on nothing more than his written promise to appear, Magistrate Stokes displayed a wilful failure to perform the duties of her office and engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.”

Vice President JD Vance said: “The big lie the Democrats told about violent crime is that it’s ‘systemic’ and therefore no one’s really responsible.

“If the ‘system’ is to blame, then you fund a bunch of nonprofits that don’t do anything besides give jobs to underqualified radicals.

“The reality is that the gross majority of violent crime is committed by a very small group of people and we should be throwing them in prison.”
