Uncovering Yazzie | Power Line

Yesterday we linked to 2023 video of University of Minnesota Professor Melanie Yazzie advocating for the dismantling of the United States in my post featuring the Title VI complaint filed against her with the authorities at the university and the Department of Justice. The 2023 video derived from the post-10/7 “From Minnesota to Palestine” event that reveled in hatred of the United States and of Israel — in the immediate aftermath of the 10/7 massacre. Alpha News covered the event in detail in “U of M professor: ‘I hope you seek to dismantle the United States.’”

The 2023 story made national news. The New York Post covered it here and Fox News here. Newsweek covered it here.

Where was the Star Tribune? As usual, the story went national while bypassing the Star Tribune. On December 6, 2023, however, Star Tribune reporter Randy Furst found Yazzie protesting outside then Rep. Dean Phillips’s office in Minnetonka. Furst reported:

Melanie Yazzie of the Red Nation, who belongs to the Free Palestine Coalition, said in a news release backing the demonstration that Phillips’ call for a multinational peace force “risks regional and global war with possible deployment of U.S. troops to Palestine.”

Furst didn’t seem to know that he was talking to Professor Melanie Yazzie — you know, she of the University of Minnesota. In any event, the Star Tribune somehow missed “From Palestine to Minnesota.” The Star Tribune was nowhere to be found.

My post on the current Title VI complaint against Yazzie is “In re: Melanie Yazzie.” The complaint covers the history of Yazzie’s depredations while employed at the University of Minnesota.

Here is an angle that might attract the interest of the Star Tribune. In a deleted post on X, Ann Coulter observed: “We didn’t kill enough Indians.” Yahoo News! covered that angle here in a HuffPost story on Monday without noting what triggered Coulter. The story only provides this context: “On Sunday, the far-right pundit reposted a video of University of Minnesota professor and Navajo Nation member Melanie Yazzie discussing decolonization and climate change at a 2023 conference.” Indeed, that’s how the Star Tribune might do it.

Now it appears that Professor Yazzie may be moving on to Macalester College in St. Paul, joining Mac’s Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Query whether you could say you majored in Sexuality Studies in college with a straight face.
