(LifeSiteNews) — The U.S. tightened its visa eligibility for “transgender,” biological men seeking to compete in women’s sports in accordance with President Donald Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a policy alert on Monday detailing how it is restricting visa classifications used for foreign athletes. For example, the USCIS now “considers the fact that a male athlete has been competing against women as a negative factor in determining whether” the alien ranks among the “very top of the field.”
The new guidelines appear to rule out male “transgender” athletes from visas for aliens of “extraordinary” or “exceptional” ability, stating that “for the immigrant aliens of extraordinary ability classification and the aliens of exceptional ability classification, male athletes seeking to enter the United States to compete in women’s sports do not substantially benefit prospectively the United States.”
The new policy also excludes men seeking to compete in women’s sports from national interest waivers (NIWs): It “clarifies that it is not in the national interest to the United States to waive the job offer and, thus, the labor certification for male athletes” who aim to compete in women’s sports.
“Men do not belong in women’s sports. USCIS is closing the loophole for foreign male athletes whose only chance at winning elite sports is to change their gender identity and leverage their biological advantages against women,” commented USCIS spokesperson Matthew Tragesser, according to The Economic Times.
“It’s a matter of safety, fairness, respect, and truth that only female athletes receive a visa to come to the U.S. to participate in women’s sports. The Trump administration is standing up for the silent majority who’ve long been victims of leftist policies that defy common sense.”
Executive Order 14201, “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” order, states, “It is the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which results in the endangerment, humiliation, and silencing of women and girls and deprives them of privacy.”
“It shall also be the policy of the United States to oppose male competitive participation in women’s sports more broadly, as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth,” the order, signed by Trump on February 5, continues.
An extensive body of research affirms that physiology gives males distinct athletic advantages that cannot be fully negated by hormone suppression.
For example, British triathlon medical experts found in 2022 that “athletes born male retain significant performance advantages in swimming, cycling and running, even after transitioning” and “after testosterone suppression.”
After puberty, these male advantages include up to 50% more muscle mass, 30% greater lung capacity, and 20% higher bone density.
In a 2019 paper published by the Journal of Medical Ethics, New Zealand researchers found that due to these advantages, “the advantage to transwomen (biological men) afforded by the (International Olympic Committee) guidelines is an intolerable unfairness.”
