Vicious row erupts after Afghan accuses star of ‘stereotyping’ foreign cultures

Watch the moment a vicious row erupts after an Afghan human rights director accused a GB News star of “stereotyping and stigmatising” foreign cultures.

Discussing the “grotesque” case of an asylum seeker who raped a 12-year-old girl, Martin Daubney clashed with Director of the Afghan Human Rights Foundation Mohammad Asif as the two butted heads over Afghanistan’s attitudes towards women.

Earlier today, asylum seeker Ahmad Mulakhil was handed 16 years behind bars after he raped a 12-year-old in a horrific attack which sparked furious protests in Nuneaton.

The Afghan national, 23, whose victim said he laughed during the attack, was sentenced after being found guilty of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He was also convicted of child abduction and taking an indecent video of the girl during the ordeal near a residential cul-de-sac in Warwickshire.

Discussing the horrific attack, Mr Asif told GB News: “Mulakhil should be punished for what he has done to that little girl.

“It does not represent my culture. It does not represent my religion, and it doesn’t represent my country.”

But Martin appeared to be at odds with his guest, with the pair locking horns over “respect” towards both British and Afghan culture.

“But you don’t admit that the poisonous environment in your country, ruled by the Taliban, could in some way poison men who come to this country? You don’t even accept that notion?” Martin incredulously responded.

“I’m afraid you forget the history. 20 years of failed war in Afghanistan. You know what Britain and America did? They replaced the Taliban with Taliban. You need to go back and read it and learn.” the director fired back.

“But why should that be a burden on our women and children now?” Martin grilled.

Maintaining his argument, Mr Asif clarified: “Anyone who commits a crime in this country, whether they are from Afghanistan, they are from the United States, or they’re British or Scottish or from anywhere…

“They should be punished according to the law.

“But people like you who stigmatise, who stereotype the entire country and relate me to the culture of Taliban. That’s really, really wrong. And you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Aghast at the accusation, Martin roared back: “No, I’m not ashamed of myself.

“You should be ashamed, Mohammad Asif, of Ahmad Mulakhil, and what he’s done to a 12-year-old girl. How he’s destroyed her life forever. You, sir, should be ashamed of your national friend.

“I’m not the problem here. The child’s life has been desecrated. And don’t try and make out that I’m the problem here – that’s grotesque!” Martin bellowed.

While Mr Asif attempted to intervene and clarify his point, Martin interjected: “I know exactly what you’re trying to do.

“You’re trying to dodge the bullet and place the blame on people like me, journalists, doing my job, trying to protect girls!”

While the row calmed down, Mr Asif reiterated that Mulakhil does “not represent [his] culture nor the Afghan people”.

He continued: “Anyone who commits crime should be punished. And he should be punished according to the law. But you cannot call my culture, you know, in that derogatory matter.

“You know, the difference between me and you is I respect the rule of law. I respect the culture in this country. I respect the people.”

Martin bluntly responded: “I respect the law in this country. Mulakhil did not. And he came from your country where the Taliban rule with a grotesque iron rod of misogyny.

“You need to own that. You need to own that. Stop blaming journalists like me for pointing it out.”
