Over the past four years before President Trump returned to office, the Biden administration allowed the Southern border with Mexico to sit open, while inviting many thousands of asylum seekers to fly into the U.S. unfettered by any real guardrails–something that is likely unconstitutional.
As I wrote earlier on Saturday, Trump gave one clear reason why the Democrats did this in a new phone interview; It’s the same thing that so many Americans said with their votes for the Republican presidential ticket in Nov. 2024–Democrats would rather cozy up to illegal alien, alleged gang members like Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his ilk than secure the sovereignty of our nation and the safety of its citizens, in the wrongheaded belief that it will win them elections.

As my colleagues Bonchie and Nick Arama have written on Saturday evening, the protests in Los Angeles have festered into out of control violence against law enforcement and others in the streets.
The president has now ordered the California National Guard to deploy and quell the chaos.

Readers may have seen Vice President JD Vance’s interview with podcaster/comedian Theo Von, which was released on Friday. Now, he’s backing up the president’s move on the National Guard and L.A.
In a thread on his official X account on Saturday evening, he waded into the conversation, making the obvious ties between what’s happening in L.A. and the “Biden border crisis” as clear as day:
One of the main technical issues in the immigration judicial battles is whether Biden’s border crisis counted as an “invasion.”
So now we have foreign nationals with no legal right to be in the country waving foreign flags and assaulting law enforcement. If only we had a good word for that…
The president will deploy the national guard to quell these protests, and any person who violates the law or obstructs law enforcement will be aggressively prosecuted.
He hints that by any other name, this is an invasion;when people are in the country illegally, assaulting law enforcement officials, and waving foreign flags, etc. That is the current situation in our country, and it is the responsibility of the executive branch to secure our safety as Americans. That is why the National Guard is necessary.
VP Vance added a reminder about what will happen to anyone who keeps the Guard from reinstating peace in L.A.:

Earlier on Saturday night, Vance said–in a push for passing the Big Beautiful Bill to “further secure the border”–that the Democrats, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, have clearly chosen where to draw their line in the sand:

As usual, Vance is over the target here. Biden left the Southern border with Mexico open for, as Pres. Trump often mentions, the worst of the worst from around the world — prisoners, patients from mental health asylums, terrorists — to just walk right in unfettered. This was bound to lead to a bad end, but the Democrats don’t care about their reckless ways.
The vice president also had some friendly advice for anyone on the far left thinking of escalating the violence overnight:
For the far left rioters, some helpful advice; peaceful protest is good. Rioting and obstructing justice is not.
