Waitrose has revealed major changes to its loyalty scheme that will see shoppers bag freebies and receive money-off vouchers. The popular supermarket chain is expanding its MyWaitrose loyalty scheme from Monday in 18 of its stores.
The new initiative will see shoppers of the upmarket grocer earn ‘Little Treats’, which could include complimentary items or discounts on their shopping. The treats card will track customers spending every month and then reward them once they have reached spending milestones. To unlock the rewards, consumers must scan their loyalty card if shopping in a store, or ensure they have linked their My Waitrose account to their online account or app.
Once a shopper has spent £50 in-store or online, their first treat will appear in their account. A second is unlocked at £100, and the third at £250.
The rewards will reset at the beginning of every month allowing shoppers to get their hands on dozens of goodies every year.
The scheme is an extension of the existing MyWaitrose programme, which already includes benefits ranging from personalised vouchers, free daily hot drinks (with a reusable cup) free copies of the monthly Waitrose Food magazine, member-only prices on selected products to discounts on Waitrose Cookery School classes.
Waitrose say they hope the rewards programme will remind customers that they are “part of a special club” and will offer them a more personalised shopping experience.
Nathan Ansell, Chief Customer Officer for Waitrose said: ‘We’re continually investing in and evolving our My Waitrose loyalty club for the benefit of our members.
”Little Treats’ is a way to regularly remind our growing number of loyal customers just how much we value them.
‘It could be something delicious, something useful or something that makes them smile. Over the course of a year they could receive many treats and I hope each one reminds them that being a My Waitrose member means they’re part of a special club of food lovers.’
