Wesley Hunt Shatters Whoopi Goldberg’s Claim About Black People Having It Worse Than Iranian Women – RedState

Recall last week when Whoopi Goldberg, that indefatigable voice on The View made the bold claim that black people in America have it worse than women in Iran?

I think it’s pretty much destroyed now, and all thanks to Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt and just a short monologue on Bill Maher’s show.

Goldberg’s claim sent both gasps and fits of laughter through America. Alyssa Farrah made the rational observation that living in the United States in 2025 and living in Iran in 2025 are wildly different things, indicating that the United States is indeed a lot freer than Iran is, given it’s an Islamist state.

Goldberg, a very wealthy woman who sits on a highly publicized talk show that’s been on for ages, decided to fire back with “Not if you’re black.”

Goldberg being the foil to her own argument aside, women have few rights in Iran and are primarily controlled in almost all aspects, including what they can wear, self-expression, jobs, and are even considered lesser under the law. Goldberg wants you to believe that this is the same for black people, which is demonstrably false.

Black people enjoy all the same freedoms everyone else does, can become incredibly wealthy thanks to successful careers, and can even become president. If Goldberg were to be sent to Iran to live as women do there, she would be clamoring to get back to the United States immediately.

Fast-forward to last Friday, and Hunt appeared on Maher’s “Real Time” where he impressed the internet with his ability to put leftists in their place when it came to various subjects, including January 6 and Donald Trump and his love of the military.

But the conversation also turned to Goldberg’s claim, where Maher asked Hunt to give his opinion. Immediately, Hunt laughed as if she had actually told a joke he was remembering.

Hunt explained that his district in Texas (TX-38) is majority white, a district Trump won by 25 points. He added that he was the direct descendant of a slave, and that his great-great-grandfather was born on a plantation.

“I am literally being judged, not by the color of my skin, but by the content of my character,” said Hunt. “That’s the progress.”

Then he dropped the truth bomb that Goldberg would feel if she wasn’t so encased in her Hollywood bubble.

“Like… a lot of white people had to vote for me,” said Hunt. “A lot.”

Hunt finished by saying he didn’t ever want to hear Goldberg’s argument again, because Hunt is — like Goldberg — proof positive that America is not a racist country, and black people aren’t victims of the American system.

His posted this moment on X, issuing a statement to Goldberg herself:

Hey Whoopi, if America is so bad, why are you still cashing multi-million dollar checks from a country that made you rich, famous, and free? You claim it’s worse to be Black in America than a woman in Iran? Really?  Try hosting The View in Tehran and see how that goes. Spoiler alert: there won’t be a studio audience—there’ll be a firing squad. The truth is, you’ve become a professional victim in a nation that gave you everything. The View isn’t a talk show, it’s a weekly tantrum from the far-left padded room.

I don’t think Goldberg’s gonna be able to talk her way through this argument.
