Omar: There were ‘always those alarms’ about COVID-era Minnesota fraud scheme.
Alarms? What alarms? Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) appeared on CBS Face the Nation this morning (full video here). Her evasions on the subject of Somali fraud take up the bulk of the 9-minute appearance, with the ritual Trump-bashing closing out the segment.
As I mentioned to Laura Ingraham the other night, Ilhan Omar filmed a video (still available) inside the largest free-food scam location in Minneapolis, promoting the food scam, while the scam was occurring.
Today, she tells CBS, as quoted in The Hill,
Omar also noted that the scheme had “an impact on Somalis, because we are also taxpayers” in the North Star State.
“We also could have benefited from the program and the money that was stolen,” she said.
She is correct. It’s estimated that persons of Somali-ethnic background in Minnesota contribute $67 million, per year, in tax revenues. The amount of fraud is estimated in the billions of dollars. With all due respect, I would argue they did benefit, on net.
