Wizz Air launches new summer flights going to an ‘iconic island destination at an affordable price’

Wizz Air is launching flights from London Gatwick to Santorini, and fares start from just £45.99 one-way.

The budget carrier announced today that the new route will take off on July 1, 2026, with planes departing twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The Santorini service adds to Wizz Air’s growing list of Greek destinations, joining recently announced routes to Chania, Corfu, Mykonos, Rhodes and Zakynthos – all set to begin this summer.

Santorini is often considered a dream holiday destination. The island is famous for its stunning whitewashed buildings perched on clifftops, breathtaking views over the volcanic caldera, and gorgeous sunsets that look straight out of a postcard.

It is often considered a luxury destination, often out of reach for travellers watching their wallets. However, the new routes are a step towards making this Greek hotspot accessible to everyone.

The airline says this fits perfectly with its mission to open up travel for all, not just those with deep pockets.

Managing director at Wizz Air UK, Yvonne Moynihan, said: “The addition of Santorini to our London Gatwick network comes at the perfect time ahead of the peak summer season.

“Our upcoming Greek routes are already set to become firm favourites with our customers, and Santorini is a bucket-list destination that people dream of visiting. As London’s low-cost airline, we’re delighted to give travellers the opportunity to experience this iconic island destination at an affordable price.

“We listened carefully to what customers wanted, and through our Customer First Compass framework, we are making sure their needs remain front and centre in every decision we take.”

The airline currently operates more than 110 routes from the UK to nearly 80 destinations across Europe and beyond.

Tickets will be available soon through wizzair.com and the Wizz Air mobile app.

The airline announced it is boosting capacity to Crete (Chania), Crete (Heraklion), Kos and Santorini in response to strong demand from UK travellers.

The extra flights will take off from four UK airports – Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted – running from July through to September 2026.
